Frequently asked questions
Who are the online Quran memorization classes for?
They are for children from age 4, teenagers and adults, whether you are starting with Juz Amma or returning to a Hifz you have partly forgotten. Each student follows a memorization plan built around their age, reading level and the time they really have each week. You need to be able to read from the mushaf, and the free trial lesson shows whether you are ready to start memorizing or should strengthen your reading first.
How long does it take to memorize the whole Quran?
It depends on your daily portion and how consistently you revise. As a general guide, one page a day means roughly two years of new memorization, while half a page a day — the pace most working adults can sustain — takes around four to five years. Your teacher sets a portion your week can actually hold and adjusts it as you progress.
How do the online Hifz lessons work?
Each lesson is live and one-to-one on Zoom with your dedicated, Al-Azhar qualified teacher. You recite your new portion and your revision, the teacher corrects pronunciation and Tajweed as you go, then sets the next portion within a daily, weekly and monthly revision plan. Lessons last 30, 45 or 60 minutes, one to seven times a week, at times that suit your time zone.
Do I get a certificate for memorizing the Quran?
Committed students receive a completion certificate. Along the way your teacher sends regular progress notes, so you always know what you have memorized and what needs more revision. Students who complete their Hifz and want a licence with a connected chain of transmission can continue to the Ijazah program.
How much do online Quran memorization classes cost?
Plans start at £16 a month ($20.32) for four 30-minute one-to-one lessons, and you can choose longer or more frequent lessons. Families with two or more students get 5% off 30 and 45-minute plans, and paid plans come with a 7-day money-back guarantee. The first lesson is a free trial.
