Frequently asked questions

Who are the online Tajweed classes for?

They are for adults who read the Arabic script but were never properly corrected, for those coming back to the Quran after a long break, and for beginners who want correct recitation from the start. The free trial lesson places you at the right level: beginner, intermediate or advanced. Our teachers include speakers of English, French, German, Spanish and Italian, so you don't need to know Arabic to follow the explanations.

Do I need to know the Tajweed rules before I start?

No. You learn the rules through your own recitation: you read, the teacher stops you at each mistake, explains the rule behind it and has you repeat until it is right. Beginners start with the letters and their articulation points (makharij), while more advanced students work on madd lengths, ghunnah and where to stop.

How do online Tajweed lessons work?

Lessons are live and one-to-one on Zoom with a dedicated, Al-Azhar qualified teacher — male or female on request, subject to availability. You recite from the mushaf while the teacher corrects pronunciation and Tajweed in real time, keeps track of your recurring errors and drills them until they disappear. Lessons last 30, 45 or 60 minutes, one to seven times a week.

How long does it take to correct my Quran recitation?

It depends on your starting point and how much you read between lessons. As a general guide, about three months of regular lessons covers the core rules, but most adults need four to nine months of daily reading before those rules become automatic. The program covers all 30 parts of the Quran, so you can continue until your whole recitation has been corrected.

How much do online Tajweed classes cost?

Plans start at £16 a month ($20.32) for four 30-minute one-to-one lessons, and you can choose longer or more frequent lessons. Paid plans come with a 7-day money-back guarantee. The first lesson is a free trial in which the teacher assesses your recitation and tells you what to fix first.
